BYT+ Program

A postgraduate program to attract talent in the field of marine and environmental sciences and biotechnologies, in partnership with industry and SMEs. This program aims to provide the best students selected for a master’s course at a Portuguese University with complementary postgraduate training in a scientific environment of excellence. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to carry out their master’s project, for 10 months, integrated in a research team of CIIMAR, in the areas of marine biotechnology, global changes and ecosystem services, conservation, aquaculture and nutrition. The young talents will be involved in a stimulating scientific environment and will have the opportunity to participate in a set of postgraduate enrichment activities that enhance scientific excellence, marine entrepreneurship and their insertion in the labor market.

This program follows the very positive experience that has been the BYT CIIMAR undergraduate program, dedicated to students from the last year of University of Porto degrees,  which is already in its 10th edition in partnership with 20 entities.

Terms

Requirements

Students from a Portuguese University who, in the application phase, are attending the 1st year of a Master course in an area identified in the BYT program and with a degree score equal or higher than 15.

Application

By completing and submitting the form available online during the call period (between April 15th and May 24th, 2024). The candidate must select one of the proposed master projects themes, available on the registration form.

Funding

Selected students will be awarded a € 350 monthly scholarship during the 10-month period they are attending the BYT+ program.

Selection

Students will be selected based on their degree score, curriculum vitae, and suitability of the master’s area to the theme of the selected project. The results of the call will be released by June 15, 2024.

Duration

September 2024 to June 2025.
