I participated in the first edition of the BYT program, in 2014/2015, where I developed the project “Cyanobacteria from harsh environments: Biodiversity, chemical exploration and ecological interactions”. The experience was extremely enriching for several reasons: firstly, due to the entire BYT team and all the researchers I worked with, who were always very professional and accessible and taught me absolutely everything; second, because it allowed me to know and explore different scientific areas through the organized workshops; thirdly, because it allowed the creation of a united group of BYT students and their easy integration into the CIIMAR community. In addition, for having won this edition of the program, I was also awarded a participation in an international congress to present my work.
The BYT experience totally exceeded my expectations, taught me to do quality science and truly shaped my scientific career, opening doors for the future. In fact, after the BYT internship, I continued my research work at CIIMAR as a master student, research fellow and currently, as a doctoral student.
